Posting on GDShader

A few things before you post

We want shaders here to be genuinely useful. You do not need a perfect write-up—just share working code, show what it does, and give people enough context to try it themselves.

Share working code

Test your shader in the Godot version you select. Remove unused code, include sensible defaults, and keep the source readable enough for others to learn from.

Explain how it works

Use a clear title and description. Mention required nodes, textures, render settings, setup steps, and any known limitations or performance considerations.

Show the shader clearly

Use a clean screenshot of the shader in action. A 16:9 image at 1280 × 720 px works best. PNG, JPG, and GIF files are supported up to 10 MB.

Choose useful tags

Add only tags that describe the effect, technique, or intended use. Select the correct Godot version and 2D or 3D category so people can find it.

Respect ownership

Post work you created or have permission to share. Credit meaningful sources and adaptations, and never upload paid, private, or copyrighted code without authorization.

Keep it safe and welcoming

No malicious code, hidden tracking, hateful material, spam, or misleading links. If you would not feel comfortable showing it to the wider Godot community, do not post it.

Before you publish

Give your post one last look. If someone new to your shader can understand it, you are good to go.

  • The shader runs without errors in the selected Godot version.
  • The title, description, categories, and tags accurately describe the post.
  • Setup instructions and required assets are included.
  • The preview is clear, correctly sized, and shows the real effect.
  • I own the work or have permission to publish it, and sources are credited.

Ready to share your shader?

All set? We would love to see what you made.
